‘My Funny Valentine’ with Herbie Hancock opens Sting’s 2005 compilation album ‘My Funny Valentine - At TheMovies’. Featuring on Sting’s upcoming album ‘Duets’, this duet is a superb re-working of the much-loved standard originally written for the 1937 musical ‘Babes In Arms’ by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart, which went on to become a jazz favourite popularised by the likes of Miles Davis, Chet Baker and Frank Sinatra.
The legendary Herbie Hancock adds his incredible keys to this shimmering version of the song, now available globally on all streaming platforms for the first time.
Sting and Herbie Hancock first met in Paris in 1985, when Sting was performing at the Mogador Theatre with the "Blue Turtles" band, including his longtime friend and collaborator Branford Marsalis.
